Lackland ISD Superintendent, Dr. Burnie Roper, facilitated the first Town Hall of the 2025–2026 school year on October 8, 2025. During the event, Dr. Roper shared the district’s vision, mission, and core beliefs, and introduced members of the Board of Trustees and district administrative team.
Attendees received background information about district enrollment trends, campus and district recognitions, as well as recent student and staff achievements. Dr. Roper also provided updates on the district’s accountability ratings for the 2023–2024 and 2024–2025 school years, outlining plans for improvement in targeted areas.
Parents were encouraged to stay engaged and connected through various district communication channels and volunteer opportunities. Questions from attendees addressed topics such as student dress code, accountability, discipline and bullying reporting, and student participation in state assessments.
The next Town Hall meeting is scheduled for January 14, 2026, from 5:00–6:00 p.m. in the Lackland ISD Auditorium.

Lackland ISD continues to strive toward improving communication.
ParentSquare is a communication platform. Through the platform, you’ll be able to:
*Receive all district, school, and classroom communication via email, text, or app
*View the school and classroom calendar and RSVP for events
*Easily sign up to volunteer and/or bring items
*Securely receive important documents like report cards and other student documents
For the best ParentSquare experience, we recommend that you download and install the app. The name is ParentSquare, and it can easily be found in your device’s app store. If you don’t have a device, no need to worry: the platform is capable of both text and email, and you can log on via the web as well. ParentSquare receives its contact information from the Ascender Parent Portal. Please take a moment to make sure that you have the latest contact information on file there.
Parent Square Notifications
Under General Announcements, you can select how often you want to receive notifications for posts. Select Off, Instant or Digest notifications.
Off:no notifications about posts will be sent to you. Emergency Alerts and Notices will still be sent. School Alerts will still be sent if turned on.
Instant:you'll receive an email and/or text and/or an app notification every time a notice or message is sent.
Digest:you'll receive an email and/or text and/or an app notification once a day in the evening with all posts from that day.
The default setting is typically Digest, so that you receive all notices and post messages in one convenient notification once a day. All emergency notifications still come through instantly, and a school can override settings as needed for an urgent message.

Say hello to the new Stacey Assistant Principal, Rachelle Norman.
Originally from Arizona, Mrs. Norman comes to Lackland from the Fort Sam ISD.
1. What high school did you go to?
I grew up in Tucson, Arizona and attended Mountain View High School
2. What college did you attend? What was your major?
I got my Bachelor’s degree from University of New Mexico in Communications and Public Relations and my Masters from University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV) in Special Education
3. What's your favorite child hood memory?
I grew up camping and fishing and hunting, those were the only family vacations we ever took. So, all of my memories are with family, outdoors hunting or camping.
4. What's your experience so far working at a new school?
I am happy to be here at Stacey. I really like to get to know the students and I try hard to talk to all the students at morning duty or lunch.
5. Who are your favorite music artists?
My favorite artists are Chris Brown, Usher, Luke Combs and Morgan Wallen
6.What is your favorite subject?
I LOVE to read so my favorite subject is ELA, but a close second would be Culinary because I really enjoy cooking.
7. What is your favorite food?
Oh gosh, I have so many favorite foods, I am not at all picky. I really love anything spicy...Mexican, Thai, Indian, Jamaican
8.What is something you recommend doing or trying?
I think people should try new foods. You never know if you will like it if you don't try it.
Thank you, Mrs. Norman!

The Book Fair was all wrapped up this week, and we held a drawing for our raffle tickets on Monday. Three young ladies and one staff member were our lucky winners! Each winner received a backpack with books, erasers and pencils. Big fun!
Winners:
PreK - Amelia Charette
Third grade - Arella Mchargue
Seventh grade - Fiona Lewis
Faculty - Mrs. Medellin-Keller
Dr. Greeness also donated toward the raffle and stopped by to get a book, too. We are already looking forward to our spring Book Fair!

We were so appreciative of the cooler temperatures this week, and our PreK and Kinder students had fun exploring fall with an imaginative story that illustrates making characters with leaves. We sung about falling leaves and we illustrated some leaves, too. Our littlest Eagles are delightful and ready to learn!

Our first through fifth grade learners considered the food, language, and location of Central American countries to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month. Our first and second graders heard the fairy tale with the princess and the pea in a Spanish retelling. We had a great time using context and picture clues to discover the Spanish word on each page. Our upper grade students learned about Pura Belpre and her contributions to literature in a wonderful biography. I am so proud of the written connections that our learners made this week. We do have some terrific writers! |
The Student-Teacher-School Compact is a shared agreement that outlines how students, families, and educators will work together to support academic success. This partnership highlights our shared responsibility for student learning by setting clear expectations for teachers, parents, and students. Together, we create a strong foundation that encourages achievement, accountability, and a positive learning environment. |

Greetings to our GT Community!
Fall has officially arrived, even if the weather hasn't quite gotten the message! This is the perfect time in the semester to consider a couple of things:
Mid-Semester Check-In: We are just shy of the halfway mark for the first semester. It’s a good time to assess how things are going academically and socially for your child. The Parent /Teacher conference coming this month is a great tool for starting this conversation.
Fall Activities: October is ripe with opportunities for family activities—think pumpkin patches, apple picking, and fall festivals. These outings can be a great way to make memories and offer a fun break from the usual routine.
