Administration

Terry Leija
Hello, my name is Terry Leija and I am the principal of Lackland Elementary School. It is an honor and privilege to serve your student as well as the entire Lackland community. I have been working in education for the past 20 years. Before working as an administrator, I taught special education classes as a self-contained, resource, content mastery, and inclusion teacher for over seven years. I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education and a Master’s Degree in Emotional Disturbance and Autism from the Our Lady of the Lake University.
Here at Lackland we want to develop each child’s individual problem solving and critical thinking skills and turn them into lifelong learners. I strive to create a school culture where all staff members truly believe that ALL students can and will succeed. We use data to drive instruction and focus on the individual needs of each and every child. Every day, we have an Eagle/RTI (Response to Intervention) class period where teachers differentiate their Math or Reading instruction in order to meet an individual students needs who may excel or have difficulties in any core content.
I am truly blessed to work with the best students, parents and staff.
