National School Counseling Week

National School Counseling Week
Posted on 02/09/2018
This week, we had the privilege of celebrating the contributions of our counselors during National School Counseling Week.  This year's theme is "Helping Students Reach for the Stars."  This theme emphasizes the work that counselors do to help students achieve school success and plan for a career.
National School Counseling Week is sponsored by the American School Counseling Association (ASCA).  Their goal as set forth in various proclamations is “to recognize that counselors are actively committed to helping students explore their abilities, strengths, interests, and talents related to career awareness and development; help parents focus on ways to further the educational, personal and social growth of their children; work with teachers and other educators to help students explore their potential and set realistic goals for themselves; and seek to identify and utilize community resources that can enhance and complement comprehensive school counseling programs and help students become productive members of society.”

Lackland Elementary School counselors are Ms. Jennifer Dominguez and Mr. Mike Flores.  C They spend numerous hours supporting the academic and social development of our students and even go above and beyond by attending skating parties, athletic events, community and national presentations, and linking students to mentors and additional support systems.
